What's included every visit
Mowing is the service people see from the street every week, so we treat it like it matters. Every visit covers the full routine, not just a pass with the mower.
- Mowing at the right height for the season
- Edging along walks, driveways and curbs
- String trimming around beds, fences and trees
- Blowing clippings off hard surfaces
- Clippings mulched back into the lawn
- Same crew and service day each week
Clippings are mulched back into the turf by default, which returns nutrients to the soil. If you want clippings bagged and hauled, just ask. It's an add-on.
Weekly vs. biweekly mowing
For most Long Island lawns, weekly mowing from May through June is the right call. That's when cool-season grass grows fastest, and skipping a week means cutting off too much blade at once, which stresses the lawn and leaves clumps. In the heat of July and August growth slows, and many properties can shift to biweekly without looking ragged.
We follow the one-third rule: never remove more than a third of the grass blade in one cut. Through summer we keep the deck high, around 3 to 3.5 inches, so the grass shades its own roots and holds moisture in our sandy soil.
What mowing costs on Long Island
Every lawn is quoted individually based on its size and layout. Here is what mowing typically costs across the Long Island market:
| Lawn size | Typical Long Island range per visit |
|---|---|
| Up to 1/8 acre | $35-$55 |
| 1/4 acre | $45-$85 |
| 1/2 acre | $55-$110 |
| 1 acre | $100-$175+ |
Typical Long Island market ranges, not a Green Horizon quote. Every property is priced individually. See the 2026 cost guide. Overgrown first cuts, steep slopes and tight gates can add time.
